Maton EM-6 Mini Acoustic Travel Size Guitar
Description
Maton EM-6 Mini
Bill May founded Maton in 1946. Maton’s name is derived from the words “May” and “Tone”. Until the mid-1930s Australian industrial guitar manufacturing was virtually non-existent. Good quality guitars were hard to find and at this time the best guitars were in the United States. Melbourne-born jazz musician, teacher and luthier Bill May decided to change all that. During the early 1940s Bill established a custom guitar manufacturing and repair company called “Maton Violin Making and Repairs”. In March 1946, Bill and his brother Reg launched Maton Corporate Musical Instruments, the opening of Australia’s first major violin maker based in Canterbury, Melbourne, in 1949. Maton now has a new modern facility in the Melbourne suburb. Maton is still a 100% family business, operated by Linda and Neville Kitchen (daughter and son-in-law of Bill May).
